River City Dolphins join PFA for 2026 Season

Louisville, KY – November 2025

The city of Louisville has a new team to cheer for — introducing the River City Dolphins, the newest franchise to join The Players Football Association, the nation’s top football platform.

Built on prayer, passion, purpose, and the power of community, the River City Dolphins are diving headfirst into the 2026 season with a mission to bring high-energy, fast paced and hard-hitting football back to the 502.

“Louisville has always been a sports city,” said team founder CEOKing Meechie, “and the Dolphins are here to give our athletes another shot at greatness while giving fans something exciting and positive to rally around for years to come.”

The Dolphins join a growing lineup of top ranked football teams under The PFA, which provides a platform for high school graduates and former college players to showcase their skills. The organization’s focus on player development, community impact, Christian faith and entertainment makes it one of the most unique sports ecosystems in the region.

As the newest team, the River City Dolphins plan to engage fans early with community appearances, youth events, and an official “Name the Mascot” contest, where local supporters will have the chance to help choose the name of the team’s first-ever mascot.

“This team isn’t just for us — it’s for the city,” CEO King Meechie added. “We had to take care of our players as our previous name Louisville Kings that we have been going by for the last 7 years has been stolen. We have contacted the UFL 2 years in a row to bring a team here, the year we don't call they bring a team with our same name. We went to play our season and championship at Lynn Stadium forced to use the practice facility because they said we couldn't play football on the soccer pitch, so they know exactly who we are. We will stand and invite more kids to see us, families to come out, and everyone in Louisville to feel like they’re part of something special.”

The Dolphins will take the field for their debut season in Spring 2026, with home games played at St. X in the Louisville area. Details on roster announcements, schedule releases, becoming shareholders and season tickets will be shared soon.

Stay tuned as the wave builds — and prepare to #JoinThePod as the River City Dolphins make their mark on The Players Football Association.
