Missouri Trojans Advance to Championship

It was a war on I-64 as the Illinois Smoke came out firing from the opening tip, storming to a quick 9-0 lead. The crowd grew larger with every possession, and the intensity inside the gym reached a boiling point early after an officiating mix-up briefly awarded points to the wrong team. After a quick correction and an apology, play resumed—but the momentum had already shifted.

The Missouri Trojans began chipping away, capitalizing on steal after steal and turning defense into fast-break points. Their relentless pressure and sharp transition play flipped the scoreboard, putting them ahead. With the Trojan twins dominating the post and dishing out assists, the rest of the team found their rhythm, forcing the Smoke to adjust on the fly.

The first half turned into a back-and-forth shootout, with both teams trading buckets until the Trojans carried a narrow 41-40 lead into halftime.

By the start of the second half, the gym was packed wall-to-wall, and the Trojans showed no signs of slowing down. They continued to score at will, stretching their lead with crisp ball movement and clutch finishes.

When the final buzzer sounded, the Trojans secured a commanding 77-64 victory, punching their ticket to the championship game.
